KARACHI: An eight-year-old girl was found near a stream in Korangi on Wednesday. After medical examination, it was confirmed that the child was raped.
According to details available to Geo News, her body bore severe torture marks around the neck and hands. Additional Police Surgeon Dr Iqrar confirmed that the girl was subjected to sexual assault.
Police sources revealed that progress has been made in the minor child rape case investigation.
Police sources said that the culprit behind the heinous act is suspected to be a neighbour to the family.
The culprits tried to kill the girl as she knew them, police said, adding that some neighbours are under scrutiny over suspicion.
Inspector General Sindh Police AD Khawaja also today contacted the minor girl’s mother.
He said that the girl’s family shifted to Karachi eight years ago from Larkana, adding that the family started to live in Korangi only a few days ago.
Later today, the parents of the minor girl found about the incident and reached the Civil Hospital Karachi’s Trauma Centre.
The hospital also prepared the medico-legal report of the incident.
The minor child’s maternal uncle reached the Ibrahim Haideri police station and transferred the case upon his name, police said. The case was earlier registered under the government last night when the girl was recovered.
A case against unknown persons was registered at Ibrahim Hyderi police station. It includes sections of rape and attempt to murder.
An initial statement recorded with the police states that the girl is either eight or nine years old. She is student at private school, a resident of Korangi and originally hails from Sindh’s district Mithi.
