Dubai: 1st PSL 2018 match, Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) begins tonight with defending champions Peshawar Zalmi taking on new entrants Multan Sultans in the star-studded league’s opening encounter at the Dubai International Stadium. The PSL organisers hope that the T20 tournament can be staged entirely on home soil from 2019. The introduction of the sixth team in the third edition of PSL – Multan Sultans – and international greats such as Shane Watson and Brendon McCullum joining the tournament has given a further boost to hopes of the tournament being hosted in Pakistan. This year, the three final matches of the PSL will be played at home, in Lahore and Karachi, could pave the way for the entire tournament to be staged in Pakistan next year.
After a glitzy opening ceremony the first match of PSL will take place at the same venue. The debutants Multan Sultans are coached by legendary Pakistani paceman Wasim Akram and led by Shoaib Malik on the field. Their lack of experience is likely to be offset by their balanced lineup, with their key foreign player none other than spin wizard Imran Tahir.
Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi captained by the fan-favourite Windies all-rounder Darren Sammy, picked up the PSL trophy last year after defeating Quetta Gladiators in front of an electric crowd at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The team has retained the essence of its winning lineup, with Dwayne Bravo’s addition is a further boost to the squad.
Pakistan Super League match of Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi will start at 10:30 PM IST, 10:00 PM PKT and 9:00 PM DST.
