FIA submits initial PSL spot fixing report to Nisar

The Federal Investigation Agency on Friday submitted the initial report on Pakistan Super League spot fixing to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

The initial report focuses on the measures taken to stop spot fixing during the tournament and important clues pointing to players being involved.

Information and evidence presented by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will also be forensically examined.

The issue of deletion of messages from the cell phones of players will also be investigated in order to determine which players were in contact with spot fixers and to determine specifics of the contacts.

Nisar said after the submission of the report that a thorough investigation should be carried on the matter as it portrays a negative image of the country.

He also instructed the FIA to complete the investigation as soon as possible.

In a separate development, the anti corruption unit of the PCB has summoned Shahzeb Hassan and Mohammad Irfan for question in the coming week.

They will be questioned in connection with the ongoing inquiry.
