Zardari condemns ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims

Implores UN to take notice

Zardari, condemns, ethnic ,cleansing, of ,Rohingya, Muslims Islamabad 5th September: Former President of Pakistan and head of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari has condemned the atrocities against Rohingya Muslims as “barbaric and unacceptable” and asked the UN to immediately step in and end the on going genocide of Rohingyas.

No words are strong enough to condemn the atrocities against the Rohingya Muslims and the international community must wake up to its responsibility he said in a statement today.

The genocide and massacre of Muslims in Myanmar will only widen the space for militants, he warned.

I also urge the Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi to put to an end this barbarism, he said.

Aung Suu Kyi’s silence on ethnic cleansing of the minority Muslim population is deafening. It is starkly inconsistent with the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to her for her struggle for peace and human rights, he said.

Aung Suu’s inability or unwillingness to act swiftly and decisively will make calls for revoking the Nobel Award louder and louder, he said.

Asif Zardari also asked the government to forcefully take up the issue with Myanmar as well as with the international community. He also asked the PPP Members of parliament to raise the issue in the national Parliament to focus attention on it.
