Abidi’s counsel informed the court that the remarks were passed on a web channel and added that registering three FIRs of the same case is unlawful. The court clarified that Abidi will only be sentenced in one case.“Has your client committed a contempt of court,” the IHC judge further asked. To which Abidi’s lawyers responded that, “No, he only used harsh words against the judiciary”.

Justice Kayani further warned that the judiciary must not be criticised before dismissing Abidi’s application.On Wednesday, Abidi was arrested from the premises of the Supreme Court for ‘insulting and threatening’ the chief justice.He was shifted to the Secretariat police station following his arrest. The criminal case was registered against him last month.
