Isalamabad: (report by Azmat Ali & Ehsan Ali) The Islamabad based Pakistan’s fastest and most emerging female Jeep rally driver Salma Marwat Khan added another feather to her cap this weekend when she won the inaugural Chakwal 4×4 challenge off-road rally.Salma displayed perfect control on steering as she raced her vehicle through difficult terrain to complete the track in mere in 22:09.40 minutes to finish the race as the winner in women’s category.Asma Raza Siddiqi, who finished second, was at least 1:32 minutes behind Salma.
This was the fourth off-road title for Salma who emerged on Pakistan’s motorsports scene recently and has participated in eight different races. Anila Khan finished third.
She has previously won Hub Rally, Sawat Rally, and Sarfranga Rally titles.
Talking to media, Ms.Salma said she is excited to win one more title. “It’s a great feeling to win titles, I love motorsports and I aim to be the best in this sport,” Salma said.The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has introduced the car rally 1st Lake District Chakwal 4×4 Challenge after its regular annual feature Cholistan jeep race. The Punjab Minister for Tourism, Raja Hamayun Sarfraz briefed media and stated that Chakwal – Lake District located 90 kilometers south-east of the Federal Capital, Islamabad and 270 kilometers from the Provincial Capital, Lahore, is considered as a Valley of lakes. The main object of this challenge was to highlight the cultural and historical assets and natural beauty of Pakistan.
